Seasoned maternal-fetal medicine leader brings nationally recognized expertise to expand access to high-risk pregnancy care
Obtelecare today announced the appointment of Dr. Jeff Chapa, MD, FACOG, as its new National Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In this role, Dr. Chapa will provide clinical leadership and strategic oversight to advance Obtelecare’s mission of expanding access to high-quality maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) services for communities nationwide.
Dr. Chapa joins Obtelecare from the Cleveland Clinic, where he most recently served as Division Chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, following his tenure as Head of the Section of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, and medical genetics, and brings extensive experience in the comprehensive management of high-risk pregnancies, prenatal diagnosis, and genetic counseling.
A respected leader in the field, Dr. Chapa is an active member of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology and History from Washington University in St. Louis and his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University, followed by advanced fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Chicago. He further specialized through a two-year fellowship in medical genetics at the University of Chicago and Children’s Memorial Hospital.
“I’ve seen firsthand how difficult it can be for families to access specialty care, especially outside of major metropolitan areas,” said Dr. Chapa. “Obtelecare’s mission to expand access and reduce disparities in maternal-fetal medicine deeply resonates with me, and I’m excited to help bring these services to communities nationwide.”
As National Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Dr. Chapa will play a key role in shaping clinical strategy, supporting provider teams, and strengthening partnerships with hospitals to improve outcomes for mothers and babies across the country.
